Sharing a Micro or Hiace Home for Eid, How to Split the Cost

Renting a micro or Hiace with relatives or neighbours is one of the most comfortable ways home for Eid. Here is how to choose the vehicle, collect offers and split the cost fairly so nobody argues on the highway.

Bus tickets are gone, the train is full, and your cousins, neighbours or office friends are all heading the same way. Renting a micro or Hiace together sounds perfect until someone asks the awkward question: who pays how much? Without a clear plan, the shared ride home can turn into an argument before you even leave Mirpur.

This guide explains how to choose the right vehicle, how to get fair offers, and simple ways to split the cost that everyone can agree on.

Micro or Hiace: which one do you need?

Both are popular for group trips, but they suit different groups.

  • Car: Good for 3 to 4 passengers, Notes Lowest total cost, limited luggage
  • Micro: Good for A medium group or two small families, Notes More seats and luggage room
  • Hiace: Good for A larger group or extended family, Notes Most space, highest total price

A useful rule: count people first, then luggage. Eid trips usually involve gift bags, suitcases and sometimes rice or sweets, so a group that fits in a micro on paper may be happier in a Hiace.

How intercity pricing works on Arohon

For intercity trips, a car on Arohon is priced from a base of ৳135 plus ৳33.75 per km. Micro and Hiace are priced higher than a car because they carry more people and cost more to run.

Rather than one fixed price, intercity and rental trips use offers:

  1. You send a request with pickup, destination, date and vehicle type.
  2. Drivers send their offers.
  3. You compare price, driver rating and vehicle, then pick one.

This means the final price depends on the offers you receive, not on roadside bargaining.

Three fair ways to split the cost

Once you have accepted an offer, decide the split before departure. Here are three common methods.

1. Equal share per seat

Divide the total by the number of seats used. This is the simplest method and works well for groups of adults travelling the same full distance. For example, if a micro carries eight adults, each person pays one eighth.

2. Share per family

When several families share, divide by family rather than by person. Families with young children who sit on laps often prefer this. Agree in advance whether a large family pays a bigger share.

3. Share by distance

If some passengers get down earlier on the route, split by distance. A simple way: the person going only half the way pays roughly half the share of someone going to the end. Write it down so there is no confusion later.

Costs to agree before you leave

The quoted offer is the main cost, but talk about these points with the driver and your group before the trip starts:

  1. Whether tolls and ferry or bridge charges are included.
  2. Where the pickup and final drop points are.
  3. How many stops are planned on the way.
  4. What happens if the group wants an extra drop in another village.

Clear agreements stop disputes at the final destination.

Collecting money from the group

Arohon rides are paid in cash, so one person usually collects the shares and pays the driver. Tips that keep this smooth:

  1. Collect shares before the trip, not at the end.
  2. Keep a simple note of who has paid.
  3. Keep the cash for the driver separate from personal money.

Planning the pickup route

A shared vehicle that picks up from Uttara, Mirpur and Mohakhali before leaving Dhaka can lose hours in traffic. Choose one or two pickup points close together, and ask everyone to be ready at a fixed time. Leaving early in the morning usually means a smoother exit from the city.

How Arohon helps

Arohon makes group travel for Eid simpler. Choose car, micro or Hiace, send your intercity request, and compare driver offers by price, rating and vehicle. Before boarding, you can see the driver's name, photo and number plate, and you can share the trip with family at home. Payment is cash, so splitting between the group stays easy.

Frequently asked questions

How many people fit in a micro?

It depends on the model, so check the seat count in the driver's offer and leave room for Eid luggage.

Is a Hiace more expensive than a micro?

Generally yes, because it is larger. When split between a bigger group, the per person cost can still be reasonable.

Does the price change if we add a stop?

Agree all stops with the driver before accepting the offer. An extra drop far off the route may change the price.

Can we book a return trip after Eid too?

Yes. Send a separate request for your return date and compare offers again.

How do we pay the driver?

Rides on Arohon are paid in cash. One group member can collect everyone's share and pay the driver.
